‘Women over 50 should have more orgasms – it’s the best anti-ageing remedy’ – Daily Star

A woman has spoken out about how important it is for women over 50 to have regular orgasms, because they’ll make you stay young and help you to live longer.

Marisa Peer is the founder of Rapid Transformational Therapy – a treatment that combines hypnosis and hypnotherapy to help clients transform their lives.

As well as helping people including Hollywood celebrities, royalty and sports stars for more than 30 years she’s also an advocate for good sex.

She covers issues from self-confidence to relationships to weight.

Marisa says having an orgasm is the best way to boost your mood and stay young

For Marisa, now 63, said she discovered the real benefits of sex almost by accident.

At the time she was looking more deeply into matters concerning infertility, and it was through this research that she discovered just how vital it is to have a vibrant sex life at any age.

To mark National Female Orgasm Day on August 8, Marisa has opened up about why it’s important for women over the age of 50 to still get frisky between the sheets.

It may not be a secret that having sex feels really good, but it also does wonders for ageing.

We may not talk about women of a certain age having sex day-to-day, but it’s time to start making this the norm.

As well as helping you to bond with your partner, Marisa said it can also help you to look younger and feel a lot happier.

Marisa said: “For women it does a lot of things when you orgasm.

“It has anti-aging and anti-depressant effects. It’s very good. It makes you feel alive, and it makes you feel young.

“You experience all these massive benefits.”

As well as this hitting the Big O works to boost a number of things – no matter what your age – including mood and the ability to feel good about yourself.

When a women orgasms it increases oestrogen and, when a man orgasms, it increases testosterone.

But Marisa admits experiencing sexual pleasure when you’re 50+ is considered a bit of a taboo topic when compared to people who fit into the younger age brackets.

Marisa Peer, 63, has opened up about why regular sex is better than any beauty product for staying youthful
The therapist has spoken out about how sex is an important part of a healthy relationship

She said sex talk is very different in your 20s, and this can be because people don’t like to discuss older people having sex.

Sometimes, it can also be because of other concerns.

For example, there could also be an element of some women fearing that they’re “bragging” for having healthy sex lives.

“We have just accepted that people don’t want to talk about older people having sex,” she said.

“People don’t want to talk about their grandparents having sex.

“Women in their 50s feel maybe because some of their friends are widowed, or because they may not have a partner, they may not like it.

“People just shut up about it.”

But the truth is sex is really good for you, and having regular sex can help to maintain a healthy bond between you and your partner.

Marisa said it’s good to engage emotionally with a partner, and show that you love each other.

She also said a good relationship needs three key things to survive – sexual chemistry, best friend chemistry and mutual respect.

Marisa continued: “So if your partner doesn’t want to have sex with you it’s really disrespectful, because it’s one of the things that make a really good relationship.

“Women need to feel desired, and men need to feel admired.”

And, aside from that, she said making sure you have regular time between the sheets is so important to keep you looking youthful.

Marisa said talking to your partner is key if you think you need to spice things up in the bedroom

In fact she said it’s much better than flashing the cash on expensive beauty products.

Why splurge on a face cream when you can indulge in the Big O?

Marisa said: “It’s anti-aging. If you are spending 20 minutes putting some cream on your face you may as well have sex.

“It’s good for you, and it makes you feel younger. Having sex makes you feel young.

“Your 50s is a time when you don’t have to worry about getting pregnant, having periods or the children coming in.

“Sex can be more fun and more exciting – for some people it can be a much better time to have sex.

“People are having sex into their 80s – it’s good for you. It’s a tremendous thing.”

Marisa also said to normalise the talk of people of a certain age having sex, it needs to be talked about more in media and film.

From films such as Book Club to, more recently, Good Luck To You, Leo Grande we are starting to see more sexual representation for older women on the big screen.

But this is just the beginning, and Marisa said we need to see more of this to normalise the topic, and also to show people how important the role of fantasy plays in a sexual partnership.

“When you see how 50 Shades of Grey really took off, because people were like ‘it’s ok to fantasise about things’,” she said.

“It’s actually really good for you, because the most powerful sexual organ is your brain.

“Fantasies don’t mean you’re being unfaithful – you are just fantasising about something you find extremely erotic.”

And, if you’ve been with your partner for a long time, but you feel like the relationship has become rather sexless, Marisa said the best thing to do is talk to your partner about it.

It’s important for couples to talk about what page they’re on sexually – whether they’re both happy not to have it, whether only one is happy without it or whatever the situation may be.

Having a conversation about your needs, wants and desires is important to maintaining a healthy relationship.

Marisa said: “You may not have the body you had when you were 30, but you know what you like, and you know what you want. That’s a wonderful thing.

“Remember what you love about sex. The more you do it, the easier it is.”

Don’t forget that you don’t need a man to get off too – with the sexpert saying there’s no shame in using sex toys, masturbating or even introducing toys into partnered sex.

Marisa said: “It teaches your body how to respond.

“You are using it to teach yourself what you like, and that’s a good thing. Why shouldn’t you try that out?

“DIY orgasms have exactly the same effect on you – it’s anti-depressant and anti-ageing.

“Having an orgasm is very good stress relief, and is really good to make you go to sleep.

“Sex makes you feel alive – and there’s being really alive or not dead. Being alive is really what we all want.”
