US software company FileCloud to create 50 new jobs in Limerick – Siliconrepublic.com

Ray Downes, CEO of FileCloud, started his career in Limerick and is now establishing his company’s EMEA headquarters there.

Texas-headquartered software company FileCloud has selected Limerick as a base for its new R&D centre, in a move that will create 50 new jobs.

Limerick city will also be the location for the company’s EMEA headquarters, and it expects to fill these technical and commercial roles over the next two and a half years.

FileCloud is developing a secure file sharing and content collaboration platform that provides compliance, data governance, data leak protection, data retention and digital rights management services for users.

It currently serves more than 3,000 enterprise customers and more than 1m users worldwide. Its clients include enterprises, educational institutions, government organisations and managed service providers.

Limerick will be the base from which the US company will implement its EMEA growth plan.

New roles in Limerick will be spread across a number of different sectors, including development, operations and support, R&D, sales and marketing, and general administrative support.

This centre will target organisations that want to store their content in a self-hosted enterprise file sharing and content collaboration platform, as opposed to a public cloud.

FileCloud’s CEO, Ray Downes, explained that he has a personal connection to Limerick, having started his own career in the locality. He was also previously the CEO of Kemp Technologies, the US software company with a Limerick base that was acquired last year.

“I have had great experience with operating prior companies from Ireland’s mid-west,” Downes said.

“We see first-hand that there is an excellent ecosystem to fast-track growth plans with the support of the local business community and our IDA partners. We get access to the region’s highly skilled technology focused talent and competitive cost base.”

Martin Shanahan, the outgoing CEO of IDA Ireland, said FileCloud’s decision to establish its EMEA headquarters and R&D centre in Limerick is “terrific news.”

FileCloud already has operations in the US, Brazil, Dubai, India and the Philippines.
