Top masters in AI programs in the US – Analytics India Magazine

As companies are integrating analytics and AI into their systems that affect key business decisions, the demand for professionals skilled in these technologies is at an all-time high. This trend will continue in the future as AI will become an integral part of business processes. The USA is one of the biggest contributors to AI research globally. Pursuing a course in AI from US-based universities can be a great option for professionals who want to build a career in AI.

Let us take a quick look at a few of the most popular masters programs in artificial intelligence in the USA.

MS in computer science with AI specialisation – Stanford University

Stanford provides a masters in computer science where out of the nine specialisations offered; one is of artificial intelligence. It will teach students about AI principles and techniques and foundational material on topics like logic, probability, and language. In this specialisation, students will also learn robotics, machine learning, probabilistic modelling and inference, natural language processing and applications in domains like biology and text processing.

Master of Computational Data Science – Carnegie Mellon University

The Master of Computational Data Science program (MCDS) from Carnegie Mellon University provides skills needed to develop the technological requirements needed in the next generation of massive information systems. The program, founded in 2004, will focus on areas such as databases, distributed algorithms and storage, machine learning, language technologies, human-computer interaction, and design capabilities.

The program is for students with a degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related degree. After the completion of the common MCDS core courses in the first semester, students have to pick from three concentrations – systems, analytics, and human-centred data science. All three concentrations need the same total number of course credits split among required core courses, electives, data science seminars and capstone courses.

Masters in Artificial Intelligence – Northwestern University

Northwestern University’s Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence program provides students with technical skills to create new AI systems as well as understand the nature of the human environments in which the systems they build will be deployed. In the program, students will follow one of two tracks. It depends on their career decision to work directly in the industry, conceiving and creating complex AI systems or continuing their original field of study but have the knowledge of the tools and techniques of AI to make transformations in the field.

At the end of the program, students will be able to understand the depth and breadth of artificial intelligence technologies and identify opportunities where these technologies can be applied in the world today. They will also be able to know how to design and deploy systems to work in human environments and with business workflow and communicate clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences. They can then lead teams in the design and development of new artificial intelligence technologies and products.

School of Interactive Computing – Georgia Tech

This course will provide students with practical, interdisciplinary skills and theoretical understanding to implement and evaluate computer interfaces of the future. The interdisciplinary Master of Science in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) degree program works due to the cooperation of different schools such as the School of Interactive Computing, the School of Literature, Media and Communication, School of Psychology and the School of Industrial Design.

It is a four-semester program with a total of 36 credit hours. Each student has to complete a set of four core courses, elective courses based on their academic background and interests, an area of specialisation courses based on the academic unit in which they reside, and a Master’s project. The areas of specialisation include – Interactive Computing, Digital Media and Industrial Design and Psychology.
