Shell’s Renewables & Energy Solutions business was created in 2016 and leads the development and growth of Shell’s integrated power business, including low-carbon sources like wind and solar, new mobility options like electric vehicle charging and lower-carbon fuel options like hydrogen for industry and road transport.

You will be part of the Hydrogen HSSE EMEA, a team of HSSE professionals passionate about delivering world class safety performance for a safe and sustainable business growth.

Join us in this role where you contribute to delivering a design that is safe to start-up, operate and maintain. You’ll be involved from early stages of project development, through engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up.

What is the role?

As Process Safety Engineer, you will support projects in EMEA with the following responsibilities:

  • Shaping the risk management in a new business by developing guidelines and leading/participating studies, safety reviews, ALARP assessments
  • Finding fit for purpose solutions to HSSE challenges in collaboration with peers and SMEs
  • Acting as consultant to commercial teams and other business partners in early stages of project development
  • Acting as consultant to project and operation teams
  • Promoting a safety culture through key enablers -learner mindset, psychological safety, human performance

What we need from you?

We’re keen to speak with individuals with engineering degree and substantial experience in Process Safety, Process Engineering or similar background.

We’re looking for the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA, MoC, Physical Effects Modelling, Facility Siting
  • Experience in applying local laws & regulations, industry standards & good practices to projects
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Ability to think outside of box, courage to challenge the norm
  • Strong communication and reporting skills across different organization levels. Fluency in written and spoken English

Underpinning your technical skills is a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and challenging environment. You will need to develop and maintain excellent relations with internal and external stakeholders. Influencing and advocating for HSSE, in a positive and supportive manner at all levels of the organization, is a key skill that is fundamental and complimentary to technical skills.
