Moving forward together: Vienna to host PCMA’s Convening EMEA – Conference and Meetings World

The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) has announced that it’s ‘Convening EMEA’ industry conference will take place at Meeting Destination Vienna.

As the conference is due to take place from 28-30 September, PCMA has additionally announced its speaker line-up.

Convening EMEA will include keynotes by futurist and humanist Gerd Leonhard; David Meade, international corporate speaker; and Colleen Bisconti, vice president, events and experiences IBM. PCMA has explained that additional industry speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

The conference will also host a series of workshops and ‘exploration tours’, where the destination will discuss their industry opportunities with attendees.

PCMA has stated that its aim for Convening EMEA is to be an omnichannel event for business event professionals. At the conference, attendees will discuss upcoming sector challenges with members of the corporate and association sectors, such as international technology companies and medical associations.

Convening EMEA’s slogan has been chosen: ‘together we move forward’. According to PCMA, this theme will inform the conference’s programme of presentations, panels, workshops, and case studies.

This slogan will work alongside three themes, as explained by Jaimé Bennett, regional director of PCMA EMEA: “The programme has been built across three themes: Future, Engagement and Planning.”

Visiting Vienna

Both Convening EMEA and the destination have stated that the conference’s ‘exploration tours’ have been designed to incite interest in Vienna as a MICE destination after the event.

Christian Woronka, head of the Vienna Convention Bureau and market management at WienTourismus, explained: “Seven specially curated city tours will provide participants insight into the diverse opportunities Vienna offers as a conference metropolis.”

“On the exploration tours, this can be felt and experienced by the meeting participants.”

Discussing opportunities after the conference, Sandra Neukart, COO of the Austrian National Tourist Office, added: “The conference post-tours give the nine Convention Bureaux of the Austrian federal states the opportunity to present their assets to the international participants of Convening EMEA.”
