Mirror Mirror viewers react after an anti-ageing skincare ad airs during the show – Daily Mail

Mirror Mirror viewers couldn’t help but point out the irony after an anti-ageing skincare ad aired during the Network 10 documentary on Wednesday.

The commercial aired just moments after host Todd Sampson revealed that ‘no over-the-counter products make any significant difference to skin ageing’.

‘Seeing cosmetic and face cream ads during #MirrorMirror is the equivalent of seeing commercials for Maccas during a heart attack documentary,’ quipped one viewer on Twitter.

‘Bahaha an anti-aging [sic] skin cream ad on after Todd Sampson tells us it can age us more,’ added another.

Wrote one viewer: ‘The irony of an anti-aging [sic] ad playing in the commercial break of a doco exposing the damaging beauty industry’.

Others couldn’t resist pointing out the bad timing of the commercial after Todd, 51, trialled an anti-ageing face cream with disastrous results.

During one scene, Todd inspected his skin after using an anti-ageing face cream, only to discover it had aged him by three years.

‘Basically, I aged three years in one month. That is definitely not in the fine print. Put that in the ads! “You too can age three years in one month if you put this on your face,”‘ he said.

He later claimed that anti-ageing products don’t work, advising viewers to stick to a less complicated regimen.

‘Beyond simply moisturising your skin and using sunscreen, no over-the-counter products make any significant difference to skin ageing, but instead of blaming the products and their false claims when they inevitably fail, we blame ourselves,’ he said.
