Kate’s ‘anti-aging’ hairstyle! Duchess of Cambridge’s new go-to of tucking her locks behind her ears – Daily Mail

While she no doubt has the world’s best facialists and beauty advisors on speed dial, the Duchess of Cambridge has discovered a fuss-free way to rock more youthful appearance – with a simple change of hairstyle.

Kate’s bouncy blow dry has been her signature look, ever since she first joined the royal family a decade ago, but on recent engagements, she’s been sporting a sleeker style with her hair elegantly tucked behind her ears.

The style was first spotted on the Duchess during her royal tour of the Caribbean and at the time, it seemed like a clever way to beat the frizz in humid temperatures.

However, she’s carried on the look at home, most recently while presenting the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at the Design Museum in Kensington last week.

Speaking to FEMAIL, Lily Jeffreys, Senior Stylist and Colour Technician at Taylor Taylor London explained that Kate wearing her hair tucked behind her ears is a subtle way to open up her facial features.

‘Tucking the hair behind the ears also helps to make her cheekbones and jawline pop, showing off her luminous skin and bringing attention to her eyes, which really elevates her face and gives her a youthful glow,’ she explained.

Look glowing in green like Kate wearing a midi dress by Edeline Lee

The Duchess of Cambridge is presenting the Queen Elizabeth II Award to an emerging designer today, so we’re happy to see her adding a new name to her own wardrobe!

This dress is by Edeline Lee, a Canadian-British graduate of Central Saint Martins. Since launching her eponymous label in 2014, she’s found fans in Amanda Holden, Emma Willis, Helen Skelton, Ellie Goulding and Helen Mirren, so Kate’s in good company.

She completed her look with an Emmy London clutch and court shoes, and earrings from Nadia Irena.

We love the pebbled textured fabric, buckle belted waist and high neckline on this dress. The tie detailing on the sleeves is a nice touch too! The teal green colour suits Kate down to the ground, so if you’re keen to copy then click through to buy it now.

Similarly, Master Stylist Nick Willis at Charles Worthington Salons has also noticed Kate wearing her hair straighter, longer and with a centre parting.

For example when she visited Belize last month she kept her brunette locks straightened in a classic middle parting as she toured the ancient Mayan archaeological site of Caracol, learned survival skills in the jungle and joined William, 39, at a glitzy engagement.

Nick said: ‘She is effortlessly tucking her hair behind the ear for a sophisticated yet casual look.

‘This Seventies longer hair vibe is massively on trend for summer, it’s easy to maintain and looks classy for any occasion and on Kate is sheer elegance.

‘This is a contrast from her old style; her bouncy blowout had volume and movement whereas these days she is seen wearing her hair more sleek and smooth.’

The stylist continued: ‘By tucking her hair behind the ear, Kate is revealing her strong bone structure. This is a great trick to show off your eyes and cheekbones and in turn is a fabulous anti ageing tip.’

What’s more, it’s a lower maintenance style for anyone with a busy schedule like the Duchess.

‘It’s a quick and easy way to make her plain, straight hair look more sleek and sophisticated, ‘Lily said.

‘It’s also easy for her to adjust and keep it looking polished all day without her hair stylist constantly needing to be on-hand.’

Martin Palmer, Salon Manager at Nicky Clarke’s Birmingham salon commented that this hairstyle is an up and coming trend

He observed: ‘The Duchess has moved away from her bouncy blow dry with side parting and gone for a more sleek style with centre parting, it really opens up her face without having to put her hair up. It also means that she could show off her earrings.’

‘She is no longer hiding behind a sweeping fringe but is now allowing her hair to show off her natural beauty and gives her an open, fresh look.’

Similar to the other stylists Nick emphasised how well this hairstyle lends itself to playful accessorizing, saying: ‘Kate makes a dramatic statement with her earrings.’
