It seems like only yesterday that Joe Jonas and his superstar siblings made their fresh-face debut on Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, but the 33-year-old is the latest celebrity to succumb to the anti-ageing effects of injectables.
In an interview with People Magazine, which was published yesterday, the “Happiness Begins” singer spoke candidly about his partnership with the creators of Xeomin, a FDA-approved alternative to Botox, which is used to smooth the appearance of frown lines and crow’s feet around the eyes.
“I started Xeomin when I noticed I was starting to see more frown lines,” he said, “I don’t think it’s necessarily something that we have to shy away from. We can be open and honest about it, be confident, and not really shy away from speaking our truth.”
Joe Jonas went on to share his perspective on health, adding: “I personally care a lot about what I put in my body, and with an aesthetic treatment like this, I wanted to be mindful of what was in it.” So what makes Xeomin a more wholesome alternative to Botulinum? The main factor is that it’s a more purified form of the molecule which undergoes a double filtration process to eliminate unnecessary proteins, but it also allows for more range of motion in facial muscles too (to avoid that expressionless, frozen face look). Jonas’s openness comes at a time when the stigma around men’s grooming and male-focused cosmetic surgery starts to dissolve. “I liked that it relieved the area a little bit and I was like “Okay, this is great” without being too much for my liking. It’s very light,” he added.
