I used Nivea’s latest anti-aging cream for four weeks to see if it really works – Cheshire Live

Like most people I’m keen to hold back the aging process so I’m all for anything that gives me a helping hand, but with so many anti-aging products now on the market it’s hard to know where to start. There’s day creams, night creams, oils, primers and serums, all claiming to reduce wrinkles and offer younger-looking skin.

I’ve never really been one to use expensive brands of skincare, I usually stick to the likes of NIVEA, Olay or L’Oreal so when I saw that NIVEA had launched a new product range containing a collagen booster and hyaluronic acid I was keen to give it a try. My over 50s skin has its fair share of lines and wrinkles but what bothers me more is the overall sagginess.

New for 2022, NIVEA’s latest day and night creams contain Bakuchiol, a new, natural alternative to retinol which NIVEA says will boost your cell’s collagen production by +48% in only 4 hours and improve elasticity. I must admit, having tried numerous anti-aging creams before without much success I wasn’t really holding out much hope that these would be any different but I was keen to give them a go.

Both the day and night creams come in 50ml plastic pots which are nice and light making them good if you’re travelling as some glass pots can be quite heavy. They are both sealed with a foil lid.

They are easily distinguishable between the two, the day jar is white with a rose gold lid and the night jar is dark blue with a rose gold lid.

After cleansing my face I put on the day cream, first impressions were that it was quite thick but very easily absorbed, perhaps a bit too easily so I put on another layer which again was absorbed straight away. I would say that I have normal to combination skin so I was surprised that the cream was soaked up so quickly but it did leave my face feeling nice and dewy but not greasy or sticky.

The cream which has a very pleasant but light fragrance is suitable for all skin types and even contains a SPF30 which is a bonus.

In the evening I opened the night cream which is peachy in colour and has a very nice smell. I scooped up quite a lot of cream as I expected it to be the same consistency as the day cream, I was wrong. It’s actually a much firmer cream and I didn’t need very much at all.

It took longer to absorb than the day cream but straight away my skin felt nourished and was glowing. I’m not usually a big user of night cream but I could tell instantly that I was going to like this product.

Roll on four weeks… having used both products every day for a month I can honestly say I am very impressed. I haven’t yet seen a massive difference in my fine lines or wrinkles but the overall look of my face and skin is definitely firmer, brighter and more youthful.

It has also helped to reduce the dark circles under my eyes so it gets a big thumbs up from me.

I particularly like the night cream and how it makes my skin feel before bed. The fragrance is light and not too overpowering like some night creams can be and my skin still feels moisturised and hydrated the next morning.

At £19.99 each for a 50ml pot they’re certainly not the cheapest products in the Nivea range but after four weeks of using them every day I have only used about one third of the day cream and even less of the night cream so they should last at least 3-4 months which works out pretty good value.

Would I buy it again?

Overall I would definitely recommend these NIVEA ® Cellular Expert Lift products and will certainly continue to use them as part of my daily skincare routine.
