Who is Artem Bykov?

Artem Bykov is not a stranger to the esports community. He worked for many different companies in the field, including Freaks 4U, Na’Vi, and Blizzard. Lastly, he was the general manager of ESL Gaming, which is one of the biggest brands in the Western esports market. His experience in the field will surely be welcomed by the LEC team.

His job description will be the same as the previous commissioners of the league. He will be the responsible person for LEC’s league dynamics and he will basically have the league run smoothly, without any problems or anything. The job is very important as all the teams need a tournament that has no vital problems to continue their business. In a way, the commissioner’s job concentrates on teams’ needs. Creating a stable environment also helps teams to survive economically, which directly affects the LEC power rankings as the best teams will not have to deal with any unnecessary occasions and concentrate on winning the title.

The Position of LEC Commissioner

The previous LEC Commissioner before Bykov was Maximilian Peter Schmidt, as mentioned above. Schmidt has been promoted to Head of Esports for League of Legends in EMEA and his spot needed to be filled. He first announced his retirement from the role on January 25 and since then, Riot Games was unable to fill the role. As Schmidt mentioned in one of his tweets, he will work closely with the LEC Commissioner as the commissioner will be a part of his team. Schmidt was known for being active on social media and he used to interact with teams, players, and fans on a daily basis.

I could not be more excited to welcome Artem to take the torch of Commissioner of the LEC. Artem’s many years of business and product experience as well as his passion for esports make him best equipped to lead the LEC at this point in our growth stage. We’re delighted he’s joining the team to build on our plans for the LEC.” said the previous commissioner and the current Head of Esports for League of Legends in EMEA, Maximilian Peter Schmidt.

I am thrilled to join Riot Games as Commissioner of the LEC. The LEC is continuing to go from strength to strength, and I am relishing the opportunity to help build on the success of the League. Riot’s player-first experience and dedication to the growth of esports is why I am eager to get underway during what is a super exciting time for League of Legends in the EMEA region.” said the new LEC Commissioner, Artem Bykov.

The LEC competition continues without a stop despite the management changes. It is one of the best leagues in the world in the sense of betting on LoL as the competition is very entertaining and also predictable in some ways. The LEC Summer betting will continue until the end of the playoffs and we are still in the regular season phase of the split so there is still plenty of time.
