Analytics and AI Developer job with RMIT UNIVERSITY | 289223 – Times Higher Education

  • Full-time, Fixed Term position until December 2022, in the first instance
  • Salary Level HEW 8 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About You

As the Analytics and AI Developer, you will support the delivery of research and development of the various analytics and AI projects across the College of Business & Law. You will be situated within the RMIT Enterprise AI and Data Analytics Hub, a newly established entity and research group that brings together researchers from across the College to address analytics and AI research from a business-first perspective. As such, you can expect to work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders and to participate in the design of analytics and AI solutions that require a combination of business-driven theories, frameworks, processes, and any other considerations as part of the solutions delivery.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Degree in data science, business analytics, computer science, or a relevant discipline.
  • Experience with data wrangling, including the use of tools such as SQL and ETL tools.
  • Experience with development of visualisations, such as Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a programming language, such as R or Python, including an updated-to-date understanding of relevant packages and libraries in analytics, machine learning and AI.
  • Experience with version control software, such as Github.
  • Some experience of software development, e.g., in web or application development, that uses AI and Analytics models will be highly desirable
  • A strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including the ability to interface with software developers to deliver outputs as part of a solution.
  • Demonstrated attitude to continuous learning and upskilling.

About the Hub

The Enterprise AI and Data Analytics Hub is a newly established research structure within the College of Business & Law. The mission of the Hub is to undertake research in Analytics and AI, ensuring effective translation of these technologies in various business problems, and to deliver a bespoke business-first training in Analytics and AI skills for the industry. The Hub will bring together capabilities from across the College, giving businesses a one-stop shop for AI and Analytics capabilities that are grounded with business know-how, including areas such as accounting and finance, marketing, HRM, supply chain, and more. Collectively, our work will advance the communities we serve in achieving a thriving digital economy in the next decade.

As a staff of the Hub, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively in a team setting with a range of stakeholders and problem areas, including opportunities to contribute to the College’s strategic plans and vision. Growing together with the hub, your role will have a voice in the directions and projects to pursue, giving you the satisfaction to take ownership of the Hub’s development.
