Artificial intelligence (AI) specialist Ayyeka is launching a tool that claims to improve the quality and reliability of data from smart cities.

AI Data Curator is designed to detect, report, and automatically fix Internet of Things (IoT) sensor data for better decision-making and adherence to regulatory compliance.

Ayyeka said that the number of moving parts that typically exists in IoT projects – ranging from sensors through edge devices to cloud platforms – makes it easy for things to go wrong. In large-scale IoT projects, it is not uncommon to have data quality and reliability issues that render the data useless.

Whether these are gaps in the data, unstable readings, or the sensor is just stuck at a certain value, the user usually has two options said Ayyeka: either clean the data or give up on it. Detecting, fixing, and overcoming those issues is a labour-intensive process. On large-scale IoT deployments, this is just not feasible and often delays or even fails the entire project.
